Low-density olive grove, usually of a density below 100 olive trees/ha, that generally consists of multi-trunk trees, is non-irrigated and has a medium to low performance. It is mostly located in steep slopes.

Example

The traditional olive plantation was located on the plot of La Loma in the municipality of Jódar (Jaén). This plantation included Picual variety olive trees, with a plantation density of 64 olive trees/ha.

Additional information

Most traditional olive groves have become irrigated in the last decades and, as a result, their performance has increased considerably. Mechanized haversting of traditional olive groves involves at best only trunk vibration.
