a disease that is caused by a fungus (gloesporium olivarum) whose major effect is the rotting of olives, which often reduce their weight and fall off too early.

Example

During the oil-processing season, Anthracnose can be a problem for some growers in certain areas. It is urgent that this issue is addressed otherwise oil quality may be drastically reduced.

these olives produce oils of high acidity, a very low quality, and a reddish-brown colour. To control the black spot, it is advisable to use copper equipment, ventilate trees, remove the mummified olives and bring the harvest forward.
