a localized irrigation system that consists in applying a large water flow over a wide olive-grove area in a rain fashion by use of sprinklers.

Example

Spray irrigation is advantageous on sloping areas. In areas with limited water resources during the vegetative period, extra irrigation water at the critical stages (flower bud differentitation, etc.) makes a significant contribution to the annual yield.
