Industry | n. m.
a production system in which the mill does not own the raw materials to be milled, but rather provides olive tree growers with milling services in exchange for a share of the oil produced and a fixed commission for the work performed.

Example

They started out providing maquila-services to other olive growers in the region, before finally producing their own oil in 2004. During the years, Esteban and Magaly have received sufficient training to run the small plantation and factor y and are even able to carry out simple analyses of the oil.

Additional information

since extraction inevitably undergoes interruptions caused by the flow of different, clearly-identifiable batches in and out of the facilities, this production system is also termed "discontinuous".

2

Industry | n. m.
The share of oil from each batch that mills retain as part of the payment for the work performed.

Example

The first measure was to demand from millers the maquila, that is, the portion of grain, flour or oil which they got in exchange for the milling. This failed to be applied to all the wheat, oil and cereals harvested during the year, because an unspecified part was hidden and sold on the black market.
