A sign of quality awarded to an agricultural product whose quality or properties are significantly attributo the geographical environment in which it originated and whose production, processing and preparation takes place within the determined geographical area.

Example

Oils covered by the Protected Designation of Origin must meet all requirements of the strict European Regulation describing production conditions (Regulation (EC) No. 1187/2000).
