The pruning of adult olive-trees whose aim is to preserve their shape, remove unwanted or damaged branches, achieve the highest possible production and prolong the maximum production period as much as possible.

Example

Production pruning aims to expose the leaves to the light while protecting the trunk and structural branches from direct sunlight, and eliminating of dried, interlaced and infested branches.

production pruning consists in removing low-hanging and interweaving branches, and also the suckers that may dominate the branches over which they are implanted in order to maximise air and light exposure.
